Project Background

A Brazilian trading customer purchased Galvalume steel coil packaging for industrial sheet applications. Before working with us, the customer had sourced Galvalume coils from another supplier and shipped them by bulk vessel.

Galvalume Steel Coil Packaging

However, during unloading at the destination port, there were no effective waterproof or rain protection measures. Due to the rainy weather at the port, water entered the packaging, and the customer found rust and water damage on the Galvalume coils after receiving the goods.

This problem caused serious concerns about product quality, storage safety, and future resale.

Customer Challenge

The main problem was not the steel material itself, but the insufficient protection during long-distance sea transportation and port handling.

Aluzinc steel coil with water get in packaged

The customer needed a packaging solution that could:

  • Prevent rainwater from entering the coils
  • Reduce moisture risk during sea transportation
  • Protect the coils during bulk vessel unloading
  • Improve resistance against handling damage
  • Ensure the Galvalume coils arrived in good condition

Our Solution

After understanding the customer’s previous shipping experience and the weather conditions at the destination port, we optimized the packaging method for this order.

Wrap Double PVC Film

Our improved packaging solution included:

  • Adding moisture absorbents inside the package
  • Using two layers of plastic film
  • Using two layers of waterproof kraft paper
  • Increasing the thickness of the outer steel sheet packaging
  • Using side protection plates with thickness above 0.30 mm
  • Strengthening the overall coil protection to reduce the risk of water penetration

This upgraded packaging structure provided better moisture resistance and stronger protection during transportation, unloading, and storage.

Final Result

With the optimized packaging solution, the customer successfully received the Galvalume steel coils without water damage or rust problems.

The improved packaging effectively solved the issue caused by rainy destination port conditions and bulk vessel unloading.

After this successful cooperation, the customer built a stable long-term relationship with us and continued to purchase steel coil products for industrial applications.
